The topic of today’s class was technology and inclusion. Having an inclusive classroom includes all students having access to what they need to function and succeed, including any technology they may need. Whether it be a laptop for students who can not write on paper or headphones for hearing impaired students, unique needs should be met in a way that accommodates all learners.

In a group discussion, we touched on

  • communication with the student and parents (although it can be difficult, it is important to create a conversation)
  • mutual respect between educator and student
  • patience
  • being flexible (go with the flow!)
  • growth mindset
  • intersectionality

Intersectionality might be confusing to some so I have included a helpful and simple video to understand the term.
